Ecofor Consulting Ltd. is a natural and cultural resource management company, with offices in British Columbia, the Yukon, Alberta, and Nova Scotia. Our team provides expertise in a broad range of disciplines in the biological, environmental, and social sciences. We specialize in fisheries, wildlife, aquatic and terrestrial resources, environmental management, archaeology and cultural resources, land use planning, ground penetrating radar, and forestry.

About the Opportunity

Ecofor is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join our team. Our preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control)
  • Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc.
  • Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management
  • Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture

More About You

To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years’ experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets:

  • Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC)
  • Fish identification
  • Bird survey methodology and bird identification
  • Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification
  • Erosion and Sediment Control
  • Plant identification

Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered:

  • Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection)
  • Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations
  • Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset

Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver’s License.
