What Your Day Will Look Like

As the Heritage Resources Operations Manager, you will lead the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Heritage Resource program portfolio at Ecofor, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and sustainable business growth. You will collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement operational strategies, oversee financial performance, allocate resources effectively, and monitor key performance indicators related to project delivery, safety, and cost-efficiency.

Using a proactive and solutions-focused approach, you will strengthen operational procedures, safety systems, and workforce planning initiatives while fostering strong relationships with clients, partners, Indigenous communities, and regulatory bodies. This role offers the opportunity to mentor Resource Managers and project leaders, support business development and proposal efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement across operations, safety, and financial management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including HR, Finance, HSE, and Business Development—while promoting a culture of accountability, safety excellence, collaboration, and meaningful reconciliation.

What You’ll be Responsible for

  • Propose strategies for operational planning, resource deployment, risk mitigation, and business optimization to support efficient and sustainable field operations
  • Review and make recommendations for improvement of operational procedures, safety protocols, and resource management systems to ensure compliance, efficiency, and alignment with industry standards.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure adequate resources are in place to support project teams and ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide oversight to ensure Resource Managers and Project Managers consistently implement and uphold health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across all project portfolios.
  • Partner with the HR Manager to lead workforce planning initiatives, identifying current and future staffing needs within the program area.
  • Develop and manage, and monitor operational budgets, including forecasting costs, tracking expenditures and ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
  • Ensure team members have clear roles, expectations and access to necessary resources.
  • Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment
  • Address and resolve any conflicts or challenges that arise within the team or external partners, ensuring that issues are handled efficiently and professionally.
  • Create a positive work environment by recognizing team achievements and maintaining high morale
  • Support organizational change initiatives by guiding teams through transitions and fostering adaptability.
  • Fostering positive relationships with local communities, Indigenous groups, governmental agencies and other partners.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.

What Will Help You Succeed:

Our ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of archaeological legislation and heritage conservation standards within the jurisdictions where Ecofor operates. You are an organized and strategic leader with the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining sound financial oversight. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you build trusted relationships with government agencies, community groups, and Indigenous representatives, and foster a positive team environment. You are adaptable, solutions-focused, and confident in managing shifting priorities and complex situations. Proficiency in standard business and project management tools supports your ability to deliver efficient and effective operational outcomes.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology, Anthropology or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset.
  • Minimum ten (10) years or more experience working in environmental consulting.
  • Minimum five (5) years in a management role.
  • Experience in managing projects, teams and mentoring staff.
  • Knowledge of the relevant archaeological legislation within the jurisdictions Ecofor works, including provincial/territorial regulatory requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of heritage conservation principles, practices, and standards.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

 

Position requires: Criminal Record Check, Valid Driver’s License

Language Requirement: Fluent in English

Wage Range: This is an hourly position with a target hiring range of $57.34 to $70.55 per hour. Final placement within this range will typically be between the minimum and midpoint and is determined based on each candidate’s unique combination of skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities. We also consider factors such as market conditions and internal equity to support fair and transparent compensation practices.

Location: The successful candidates must reside in or be willing to move to one of the locations
mentioned above.
