What Your Day Will Look Like

As a Finance Administrator, you will support project teams by monitoring project costs, tracking budgets, and ensuring expenses are accurately recorded. You’ll handle client invoices, maintain accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding payments, and reconcile funding and tax-related accounts. You will work closely with the Controller to support month-end processes and ensure incoming funds are properly recorded. Throughout the day, you’ll respond to internal inquiries, maintain project and client records, and assist with ongoing improvements to financial systems and procedures.

What You’ll be Responsible for

  • Work closely with Managers to monitor and track project expenses, ensuring all costs are accurately recorded and staying within budget.
  • Generate and send invoices to clients based on project contracts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Cross training in other finance departments as needed, including, but not limited to: Accounts Payable, Payroll Timesheet Checks, Reporting etc.
  • Provide client specific labour and information reporting as required.
  • Access and maintain client specific portals.
  • Create EPN’s when requested and maintain accurate and current lists of open projects.
  • Provide support and training for Project Managers in financial system.
  • Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts and customer payments.
  • Fostering positive relationships with local communities, Indigenous groups, governmental agencies and other partners.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.

What Will Help You Succeed:

Our ideal candidate has at least two years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping and office procedures. You have a strong understanding of administrative practices, general accounting principles, and financial standards, and are comfortable applying judgment and analysis to solve problems. You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, accounting software, and financial tools, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers, and clients at all levels are essential. You are a self-motivated team player who demonstrates discretion, tact, and confidentiality in all professional interactions.

  • Completion of a Diploma or Degree in the field of Financial Management, Accounting or a related field.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in accounting and office procedures.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Sound knowledge of administrative practices and procedures and general accounting principles and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Word), accounting software, and other financial tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform analysis, apply judgement and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate policies, procedures and processes with internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organize priorities and work activities in order to meet deadlines.
  • Completion of a Diploma or Degree in the field of Financial Management, Accounting, Bookkeeping or a related field is an asset but not required.

Position requires: Criminal Record Check, Valid Driver’s License

Language Requirement: Fluent in English

Wage Range: This is an hourly position with a target hiring range of $26.75 to $32.91 per hour. Final placement within this range will typically be between the minimum and midpoint and is determined based on each candidate’s unique combination of skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities. We also consider factors such as market conditions and internal equity to support fair and transparent compensation practices.

Location: We have offices in several locations in western Canada. We are looking for candidates to work out of one of our offices located in Prince George, Fort St. James, or Fort St. John, BC.
