What Your Day Will Look Like 

As a Report Writer, you will translate field data into clear, regulatory-compliant reports for clients. You will review site notes, maps, and artifact records, and then draft permit reports, site forms, and other supporting documents that align with heritage legislation. Collaboration with field staff, Indigenous partners, and GIS specialists is common to ensure accuracy and cultural sensitivity. The role is deadline-driven, with time dedicated to editing, formatting and preparing reports and other documents for submission. 

What You’ll be Responsible for 

  • Writing and editing technical documents including interim and final reports to meet permit requirements, archaeological overview assessments (AOAs), memos, letter reports, permit applications, site forms, etc. 
  • Providing support with technical oversight in preparation of the above documents to ensure conformance with regulatory requirements and accuracy of technical content.  
  • Meeting with and supports managers, project managers and the senior management team on ongoing projects and/or processes. 
  • Maintaining an understanding of applicable heritage regulations, guidelines, and associated industry practices within BC and the Yukon. 
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.

Our ideal candidate has at least four years of archaeological consulting experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology. You have a strong understanding of BC and Yukon regulatory requirements and proven experience authoring technical reports, can work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong organizational skills to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline. 
  • Four (4) plus years of archaeological consulting experience.  
  • Proven experience authoring technical reports in an archaeological consulting setting (within the BC and/or Yukon regulatory environment is preferred).  
  • Grant writing experience would be an asset. 
  • Knowledge of Cultural Heritage regulations, guidelines and associated industry practices. 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Word) and project management software (e.g. Monday.com). 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively. 
  • Proven ability to work with variety of stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups and Indigenous representatives. 

Position requires: Criminal Record Check, Valid Driver’s License 

Language Requirement: Fluent in English

Wage Range: This is an Hourly position with a target hiring range of $32.37 to $39.82 per hour. Final placement within this range will typically be between the minimum and midpoint and is determined based on each candidate’s unique combination of skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities. We also consider factors such as market conditions and internal equity to support fair and transparent compensation practices. 

Location: We have offices in several locations in western Canada, however, successful candidates who reside outside those areas can be based out of their existing home, with occasional travel to office locations.
