About the Opportunity

Ecofor is currently seeking a Permit Holder to join our team in Whitehorse, YT. This position will start on April 1, 2025.

This is a Professional/ Managerial Hourly position with a wage range of $35 – $42 per hour, depending on experience.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Holding Class 2 archaeological permits in the Yukon.
  • Managing archaeological projects and assisting in planning and coordinating field work.
  • Conducting field assessments in a variety of locations.
  • Travel for work and accommodation in remote locations as required.
  • Communicating and meeting with clients regarding project schedules, work progress, budgets and reporting.
  • Developing a workplan to successfully complete projects, including determining the resources (time, money, personnel, equipment, etc.) required.
  • Obtaining qualified consultants to work on projects as appropriate (complete/manage sub-contracts).
  • Communicating the workplan to the project teams with clearly defined goals and expectations.
  • Reviewing quality of work completed with project teams on a regular basis to ensure project standards are met.
  • Reviewing and revising the project schedule with management and other staff.
  • Monitoring and approving all budgeted project expenditures.
  • Communicating and meeting with Indigenous groups and communities.
  • Communicating with regulatory bodies such as the Yukon Heritage Branch.
  • Ensuring project deliverables are on time, within budget and to the desired quality level.
  • Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology.
  • The ability to hold Yukon permits. Demonstrated ability holding and closing past permits would be an asset. Ability to hold permits in other provinces is not required but would be an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset.
  • Registered Professional Consulting Archaeologist (RPCA) status would be an asset.

Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered:

  • Knowledge of the Yukon heritage regulatory requirements. Knowledge of BC and Alberta regulations would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cultural Resource Management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with field equipment and operating a variety of vehicles (trucks with trailers, deck trucks, ATVs, UTV, snowmobiles, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise instructions to project teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust to a fluid schedule.
  • Ability to conduct field work.
  • Willingness to travel for work and stay in remote accommodations.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills

Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver’s License.
