Human Resources Manager
Ecofor is currently seeking a Human Resources (HR) Manager to join our team in Prince George, Fort St. James or Fort St. John.
The HR Manager is an integral member of the management team, and a strategic partner in support of the company’s vision, mission, and strategies. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with employment related legislation, fostering positive employee relations, and developing and executing HR strategies, policies, and initiatives. They play a key role in talent acquisition and retention, new employee orientation, disciplinary action, employee development, performance management, job role and classification, employee engagement, compensation and benefits administration. They also provide leadership and support to the management team, collaborate with other departments, and contribute to creating a positive workplace culture.
This is a salary position. The wage range is $90,000 per year to $135,000 per year depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and guidance on HR legislative requirements and compliance, and develop, implement, and enforce HR policies, processes, and procedures that align with company culture.
- Mediate conflicts, conduct investigations, manage progressive discipline, and provide employee support on personal and business matters.
- Train and support management in executing performance reviews and provide guidance and support on employee performance issues.
- Administer the company’s recruitment and retention program, in collaboration with management.
- Implement, and manage, employee and sub-contractor orientation/onboarding program.
- Develop and execute ongoing training and development plans to ensure employees have the skills, knowledge and tools to perform their roles effectively and in support of employee growth and professional development.
- Administer salary structures, benefits’ programs and in collaboration with management, develop and maintain job descriptions for all positions.
- Develop initiatives to enhance employee engagement and to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Manage and maintain HR information. Ensure all personnel, HR, and contractor information, documents, and files are complete and current. Analyze HR metrics and contribute to HR strategies.
- Monitor and maintain employee vacation and absenteeism tracking system.
- Monitor and manage the HR budget, and report on monthly/yearly budgets and expenses.
- Liaise with government agencies, educational institutes, professional organizations, and consultants, and represent the company on all HR matters.
- Promote a strong safety culture and work collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in Human Resources, or a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.
- CPHR designation, or in progress.
- 5+ years of HR leadership experience, and 3+ years of HR generalist experience.
- Proven leadership and relationship building skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – written, verbal, presentation.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive situations and information.
- Experience developing and implementing HR programs and policies to support organizational culture and strategic goals, with proven success.
- Knowledge of BC, Yukon and Alberta employment laws/legal framework including the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Code, Workers Compensation Act and Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and Personal Information Protection Act.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid Driver’s License
